XGalaga for Android A clone of the classic game Galaga for the Android OS which you can download from the Android Market. XGalaga for Android is a space-invader like game with a global ranking system, and increasingly difficult gameplay as you clear each screen. Collect powerups, to add additional firepower, which will aid in your battle against the alien forces. Bonus ships are awarded at 20,000 points, 50,000 points, and then every 50,000 points thereafter. This version was ported from Joe Rumsey's XGalaga for the X Window System. It uses the same sprites, sounds, and levels as that version. Instructions

Information

You will begin with 3 ships. At first you only have the ability to fire 3 single torpedos at a time. Grab powerups to increase your firepower. Below are listed the available powerups, and how they will effect your firepower. Move side to side, trying to destroy the alien convoy. Score more points by destroying the flagships being escorted by the drones. Each level will get progressively more difficult. Compete with others using the global scoreboard. Bonus ships are awarded at various scores.

Controls

Control your ship using the trackball. Roll left or right to move the ship across the screen. Fire torpedos pressing the space bar, 'Search' button, touch screen or the trackball.

Pressing the menu button will pause the game, and show preferences for sound and vibration. At the end of each game, you will have the option of posting your score to the global scoreboard.

Scoring

The alien convoy will attack you in waves. Score more points for destroying the flagships being escorted by drones. Bonus ships are awarded at 20,000 points, 50,000 points, and every 50,000 points thereafter.

Powerups

These are the available powerups:

  • Single Shot - Fires a single torpedo
  • Double Shot - Fires two torpedos parallel to each other
  • Triple Shot - Fires three spanning torpedos
  • Shield - Protects your ship with a shield
  • Extra bullet - Increases the number of bullets that can be fired
  • Smart - Destroys all aliens currently attacking your ship
